Safety Animation Development for Mining Operations – Adani Enterprises Ltd.

1. The Premise

Adani Enterprises Ltd., a pioneer in India’s infrastructure and energy sectors, manages some of the most expansive mining operations in the country. At the Parsa East & Kante Basan (PEKB) coal block in Chhattisgarh, operational scale and manpower complexity made it vital to implement a uniform safety communication framework across all site activities.

To address this need, Adani engaged CORE EHS to create a set of 7-minute high-impact 3D animated safety videos, aimed at increasing safety compliance, reducing onboarding time, and enhancing incident prevention across key operational zones.

2. The Challenges

With hundreds of workers entering the PEKB site on rotational shifts and varying literacy levels, Adani faced:

• Low recall and inconsistency in manual safety inductions across shifts.
• Safety trainers spending over 60% of their time repeating routine instructions.
• A need for content that could visually represent heavy machinery protocols, PPE guidelines, and emergency responses in a clear and digestible format.
• The challenge of ensuring that contractors, equipment handlers, and site visitors absorbed critical safety steps quickly and reliably.

3. The Solution

CORE EHS developed a custom 3D animation-based safety training video as per SO No. 6130000222, dated 17.02.2021, with a total value of ₹3,42,790 (₹2,90,500 + 18% GST).

Key Features of the Solution:

• Duration: 7-minute professionally produced animation
• Covered modules:
  • Site-specific PPE usage
  • Machinery interaction zones
  • Traffic movement control inside mines
  • Emergency response including fire and evacuation
• Developed using realistic 3D modeling of PEKB’s actual environment
• Included voiceover and visual scripting for maximum accessibility across languages and roles
• Final video delivered in .mp4 format, compatible with Adani’s training rooms, LMS systems, and mobile devices

The project followed a milestone-based payment system (50% on scripting, 50% post-delivery) and was successfully completed between January and March 2021.

4. Resulting Benefits

The deployment of the animation video had significant impact at the Parsa Kente site:

• Induction time reduced by 41%, enabling faster deployment of manpower on-site
• Site EHS team reported a 47% drop in repeated safety briefings due to video clarity
• Contractor compliance scores improved by nearly 33% within the first 60 days
• The animation enabled standardization across training teams, minimizing human error
• Positive feedback from over 85% of inducted workers, who found the content more memorable than static instruction

The animated content now forms part of Adani’s ongoing induction strategy at PEKB and is under consideration for replication at other mining sites across India.
